Statement By A.G. Schneiderman On The Observance Of Veterans Day

NEW YORK -- Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman released the following statement today in observance of Veterans Day.

“On this Veterans Day, we honor the generations of heroic Americans who sacrificed so much to defend our country. Words cannot express the profound depth of gratitude we owe to them and their families. Let us pay tribute to their service by honoring the brave men and women in uniform who serve our country every day, and by fulfilling our moral obligation to fight for the wounded heroes here at home. It is our duty to protect those who have protected us with unrivaled courage, integrity and professionalism, and give back even a fraction of what they have given to this great nation.”

In recognition of the service of our men and women in uniform, Attorney General Schneiderman encouraged veterans and active duty personnel to consult his office’s newly developed resource guide for valuable information on how to access the benefits they deserve. The guide also contains details on the federal and state laws that impact those who have served in the armed forces, and includes:

  • Educational benefits and opportunities;
  • Protections related to debt, foreclosure, insurance, leases, and other contracts;
  • A comparison of federal and state benefits; and
  • Resources that provide additional information.
