Statement By Attorney General Spitzer On Sampling And Mapping Phase Of Hudson River Cleanup

Today’s announcement by the federal Environmental Protection Agency is an important milestone.

The core sampling and mapping phase of this project, announced today, is critical in making decisions about where dredging should occur to remove hazardous PCBs.

The fact that General Electric has committed itself to the project signals a new phase in our effort to cleanse the Hudson River of PCBs.

Much work remains to be done. But today’s announcement is welcome news to everyone who has waited so long for this critical cleanup.
