Document Requirements for Applications
Resume
- Summarize relevant job history, professional experience and education.
- Include the names of previous employers and employment dates.
Cover Letter
- Include the posting reference number and job title.
- Serves as an introduction to potential employers.
- Should outline your suitability for the desired position(s) and be no more than one (1) page in length.
References
- See the specific job posting to confirm the number of references required.
- All references should be listed in a single document and include the name of the person providing the reference, phone number(s), email address and your relationship to this person (e.g. supervisor, professor; professional, not personal, references requested)
Writing Sample
- Applicants should show discretion and sound judgment when submitting a writing sample, particularly with regard to the content/topic, format and length of the piece.
- Attorneys, Volunteer Attorneys & Law Students: Select a piece that demonstrates your legal writing and analytical skills, such as a brief, motion or memorandum of law.
- Other Professional Positions & Undergraduate & Graduate Students: Select a piece that demonstrates your ability to analyze, synthesize and organize a cohesive document that efficiently and effectively conveys information to your target audience.
Transcript
- A transcript is required for all student positions.
- For attorney and volunteer attorney positions, a transcript is required if less than five (5) years post-graduate.
- An unofficial transcript is sufficient to apply, but applicants that are considered for hire approval will be required to submit an official transcript.
