Statement from A.G. Schneiderman in Commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

NEW YORK – Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman issued the following statement in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

“Today, we honor the life, legacy and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who inspired a movement that is as vital and as powerful as ever. As we continue our efforts to fulfill the dream of Dr. King, my office remains committed to protecting the rights and liberties of all New Yorkers, and pursuing economic justice across our state. I am extremely proud of the work my Civil Rights Bureau has accomplished, including taking steps to address racial disparities in schools, fighting racial profiling and going after banks that engage in discriminatory “redlining.” Let us use today as a moment to reflect on the progress achieved by years of activism inspired by Dr. King, and to recommit ourselves to fighting even more aggressively for equal justice under law for all.”
