NY AG’S OFFICE ANNOUNCES INTERIM PAYMENT BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO FUND ESSENTIAL PLAN

AG’s Office Filed Suit Earlier This Year After Federal Government Cut Off Significant Healthcare Funding

Acting New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood released the following statement, following entry into an agreement on an interim payment of $151 million by the federal government to fund New York's Essential Plan:

“The Essential Plan serves hundreds of thousands of low-income New Yorkers. We filed suit earlier this year to protect the quality, affordable health care on which New York’s families rely.

We are gratified that the federal government has agreed to make this interim payment. We hope and expect that, in the coming weeks, we’ll reach agreement with the federal government on a payment formula for the program, so that we can resolve this matter fairly and appropriately for all New Yorkers.”

In January, the Attorney General’s office filed suit after the federal government cut off significant funding for New York’s Essential Plan.
