A.G. Schneiderman Names Ted O’Brien Head of Rochester Regional Office

Schneiderman: Ted O’Brien Brings Wealth Of Knowledge And Experience To Serve People Of Rochester And Western New York

ROCHESTER- Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced that he has named veteran attorney and former New York State Senator Ted O’Brien to be the new Assistant Attorney General-In-Charge of his Rochester Regional Office. In this new role, Assistant Attorney General-in-Charge O’Brien will oversee an office that serves the Greater Rochester Region, including on matters related to consumer frauds and public advocacy litigation.

“Ted O’Brien brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our office and he has proven himself to be a first-rate public servant,” said Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. “I am confident that Ted O’Brien will continue to show the same commitment to legal excellence and equal justice under law that he has demonstrated throughout an accomplished career. I am pleased to have him in this important leadership role on our team.”

Ted O’Brien formerly represented the 55thState Senate District, which stretches from Irondequoit on the shores of Lake Ontario to Naples in the heart of the Finger Lakes country, including significant parts of the City of Rochester. While in the State Senate, O’Brien was the ranking member on the Senate Banks and Environmental Conservation Committees.

Prior to serving in the New York State Senate, O’Brien was a founding partner of a law firm, Haris, Chesworth, O’Brien, Johnston and Welch LLP, founded in 1993. O’Brien was also a member of the Monroe County Legislature from 2004-2012, rising to become the Minority Leader.

O’Brien succeeds Debra Martin, the former Assistant Attorney General-in-Charge of the Rochester Regional Office who was confirmed in May as a New York State Court of Claims Judge in Rochester.

The Rochester Regional Office is located at 144 Exchange Boulevard in Rochester. The office is part of the Division of Regional Affairs led by Executive Deputy Attorney General for Regional Affairs Marty Mack.
