A Community Impact Hearing

New York Attorney General Letitia James is hosting a community impact hearing on May 8, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at SUNY Westchester Community College to hear from New Yorkers about the impact the Trump administration’s policies are having on their lives. Joined by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul, and Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, Attorney General James will provide an update on her office’s work to protect New Yorkers’ rights and uphold the rule of law.

Since January 20, Attorney General James and her fellow attorneys general have been cutting through the chaos of the Trump administration to defend critical services, maintain the benefits people rely on, and fight back against federal overreach. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has filed 12 lawsuits and 18 amicus briefs against the Trump administration to ensure all New Yorkers – and all Americans – are protected from the attacks being levied by the federal government.

New Yorkers who have been impacted by Trump administration service cuts, funding freezes, mass layoffs, and other harmful policies are encouraged to provide testimony and share their experiences with Attorney General James and her fellow attorneys general. Individuals who wish to provide oral testimony at the hearing must submit their written testimony online by 5:00 p.m. There is also an opportunity to submit questions for the attorneys general.

The event address will be provided after registration.

I acknowledge that:
The Attorney General is not my private lawyer. The Attorney General is a public servant who protects the public from illegal or misleading practices. This complaint does not mean that the Attorney General will start a lawsuit for me.
The Attorney General cannot give me legal advice or represent me in court. If I have any questions about my legal rights or responsibilities, I should contact a private lawyer.
This is a community event for New Yorkers to share their experiences. I will not be disruptive or distract from my neighbors' opportunity to be heard.

Please note, confirming your attendance by submitting this form does not guarantee that you will be asked to speak at the event.

If you require an accommodation to participate in a program, service, or activity of our office, please contact our ADA Administrator at ADA.administrator@ag.ny.gov, preferably 48 hours before the event.
