Notice for Personal Service

The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) remains open for business. Consistent with the goal of the “New York State on Pause” Executive Orders and the Administrative Orders issued by the New York State Unified Court System to maintain social distancing, and for the health and safety of all, we are encouraging parties to effect personal service by mail through the procedure set forth in CPLR 312-a. Please use the following addresses for personal service by mail upon the OAG:

For service of papers only in an action that a court determines is an emergency or essential matter as defined by administrative orders of the Chief Administrative Judge, please email the application to Service@ag.ny.gov AND call the Managing Attorney’s Office at 212-416-6157.

Any other submission to this email address is accepted only as a courtesy to counsel, and this Office does not waive service of process pursuant to the requirements of the C.P.L.R.

This notice applies only to service on the Office of the Attorney General and does not alter any other legal requirements to perform personal service on a state agency or on a state officer or employee sued in an official or individual capacity.
