Visiting Nurse Service (VNS) settlement

Overview of VNS settlement

The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) investigated Intergen and Amazing, two licensed home-care service agencies (LHCSAs) that were contracted by VNS. The contracts with VNS began on February 1, 2015.

These agencies required some home care aides to work 24-hour shifts without breaks. The companies failed to appropriately pay these home care aides.

The OAG found that contracts between VNS and LHCSAs like Intergen and Amazing should be changed to improve the compensation for aides working 24-hour shifts.

In addition, VNS has contributed $500,000 to pay aides who worked for Intergen and Amazing and who were harmed by the companies’ actions.

This page describes the basics of the settlement. To learn more, read the letter agreement between OAG and VNS.
