The Office of the New York State Attorney General protects tenants, homeowners, condominium (condo) owners, and cooperative (co-op) shareholders. We investigate reports of discrimination, predatory home loans and mortgages, and deed theft. We provide information for tenants about their rights and assist them with complaints about harassment, rent security deposits, illegal evictions, predatory landlords, and discrimination. We also regulate condo and co-op conversions.
