Attorney General James’ Statement on Central Park Field Hospital

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James tonight released the following statement after reports that Samaritan’s Purse — the group funding and building a 68-bed respiratory unit in Central Park that will serve as an overflow facility for Mt. Sinai hospital — has a record of asking volunteers to sign a “statement of faith”:

“We welcome any organization’s support during this time of great need. While no volunteers will be present at this site, we will remain vigilant to ensure discrimination does not occur at this — or any other — facility. New Yorkers will always proudly open their hearts and arms to all and warmly embrace each and every one of our diverse and vibrant communities.”
