Attorney General James’ Statement on the Passing of Senior District Court Judge William H. Pauley III

NEW YORK – New York Attorney General Letitia James today released this statement regarding the passing of Senior Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, William H. Pauley III:

“I am saddened to hear about the passing of the Honorable William Pauley. Throughout his storied career, Judge Pauley dedicated his life to the rule of law, public service, and the realization of our country’s promise of justice for all. I had the utmost respect for the way Judge Pauley conducted his cases, especially in the Baez v. New York City Housing Authority matter, when he demonstrated his commitment to truth and equity by allowing all residents to testify. That important decision ensured New York City’s marginalized voices were heard. His balanced, measured, and wise voice will be missed by the legal community and beyond, and I offer my condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
