Franchise Registration Filing Guidance
Review OAG’s Guidance for Accelerating Review of Franchisor Registration Applications before submitting a registration filing.
Effective October 1, 2022: All franchise filings and associated fee payments must be submitted through the NASAA Franchise Electronic Filing Depository (FRED) unless doing so poses a hardship. If you are unable to use FRED, submit a hardship application following the instructions on the franchise registration guide.
Investor Protection Bureau
The Office of the New York State Attorney General protects investors, businesses, shareholders, and consumers. We also regulate brokers, investment advisors, commodities professionals, and franchisors to make sure they are following the law. If we find that a business or professional is violating the law, we get remedies for investors and businesses, including monetary compensation.
